Booking a tour
To reserve your tour with Alboreo Birding, please contact us via email or WhatsApp with the following information:
- Your preferred date(s)
- Number of participants
- Tour of interest
- Your birding experience level
- Any dietary requirements, physical considerations, or specific species you’re hoping to see
We’ll confirm availability and send you a detailed proposal within 48 hours.
Confirmation & Deposit
Your booking is confirmed once we receive a deposit of 30% of the total tour price.
- Deposits can be paid via bank transfer or payment link
- Once your deposit is received, you’ll get a booking confirmation along with all pre-tour information: packing list, species briefing, itinerary, and accommodation details
- The remaining balance is due 7 days before the tour start date
Bookings made within 7 days of the tour date require full payment at the time of confirmation.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made by the client
We understand that plans change. Our cancellation policy is as follows:
- More than 60 days before: Full refund minus 10% administrative fee
- 30-60 days before: 50% refund
- Less than 30 days: No refund
All cancellation requests must be sent in writing via email or WhatsApp. If you have travel insurance (which we strongly recommend), cancellation costs may be recoverable through your policy.
Cancellations or changes made by Alboreo Birding
In the rare event that we need to cancel a tour due to circumstances beyond our control (severe weather, safety concerns, unforeseen personal emergency), you will receive:
- A full refund of all payments made, or
- The option to reschedule at no additional cost
We reserve the right to modify an itinerary on the day if conditions require it, for example, due to weather or road conditions, always prioritizing your safety and the quality of the experience.
Weather Policy
Birding takes place outdoors and mountain weather in Colombia can be unpredictable. Our approach:
- Light rain: Tours proceed as planned. Birds are active and we come prepared.
- Heavy rain or unsafe conditions: We will adapt the itinerary, reschedule, or offer a full refund, whichever works best.
- We never cancel lightly. If conditions are uncertain, we’ll communicate with you the evening before and make a decision together.
No-show Policy
If a participant does not show up at the agreed meeting point at the scheduled time without prior notice, the tour is considered forfeited and no refund will be issued.
If you’re running late or something unexpected happens, please contact us immediately via WhatsApp.
Changes to your booking
Date changes
If you need to reschedule, please let us know as soon as possible. We’ll do our best to accommodate your new dates at no extra charge, subject to availability.
- Date changes requested more than 14 days before the tour: free of charge
- Date changes requested 7–14 days before the tour: one free change permitted
- Date changes requested less than 7 days before the tour: treated as a cancellation
Group size changes
- Reducing your group size may affect the per-person price. Please inform us as early as possible.
- Adding participants is subject to the maximum group size per tour.
Travel insurance
We strongly recommend that all clients purchase comprehensive travel insurance before their trip. Your policy should ideally cover:
- Trip cancellation and interruption
- Medical expenses and emergency evacuation
- Lost or delayed baggage
- Travel delays
Alboreo Birding is not responsible for costs incurred due to flight delays, illness, personal emergencies, or other circumstances outside our control.
Responsibility & Liability
- Alboreo Birding carries liability insurance for guided tours
- Clients participate in all activities at their own risk and are responsible for their own physical condition and fitness
- We reserve the right to exclude any participant from a tour if their behavior endangers the safety or experience of the group, without refund
- Alboreo Birding is not responsible for lost or damaged personal belongings during the tour
